april 2007 - Creative Paper Redevelopment hit by Arson.

Management and staff are sad to report that our new multi-million dollar site on Burnie's waterfront was burned to the ground on Friday 27th April 2007. The building was in the latter stages of completion and was due to be opened mid June 2007. At this stage fire investigators are suggesting that it is arson. This is a cruel twist in our history, and we are shocked by the implications of this dreadful situation.

So many talented, passionate people put their all into this amazing project, so it's especially sad to think that their hardwork & creativity will never be appreciated by the public. We would like to express our thanks to those people (you know who you are) as well as to the eleven fire fighting units (45 fire fighters!!) that put the fire to rest and ensured that no one was hurt. Thanks guys, you are all legends!

Thankfully we had not yet moved our equipment, stock or sculptures to the new site, so we will be trading as usual at the existing "East Mill" site (Old Surrey Rd) until further notice. We hope that you will continue to visit our unique hand made paper mill attraction and we look forward to sharing our new strategy for the future as soon as possible.
