The handmade paper company is planning to launch a new range of products in May.

But before it can do that, it needs at least 100-200kg of roo poo.

Creative Paper Tasmania manager Joanna Gair said the new range would include paper and cards made from 100p.c. Tasmanian kangaroo and wallaby poo.

"We came up with the idea after reading an article about how elephant dung paper was a huge tourist product in Africa and Asia," Mrs Gair said.

"I also discovered that in Scandinavia elk poo paper is the stationery of choice in most offices.

"That got me thinking we should create a uniquely Tasmanian paper from roo poo."

Mrs Gair said roo poo paper was the ultimate in recycling.

"It reinforces the ecological message of our paper and has great novelty value, especially for kids," she said.

"It also means the bulk of our work has already been done for us because half of the fibre pulping has already been done."

Mrs Gair said the poo paper would be launched during Innovation Week in mid-May provided the community rallied behind the poo drive.

"At the moment we are finding it very difficult to get the quantity of poo we need," she said.

"We are hoping the community will help by collecting poo for us and dropping it off in plastic bags, preferably recycled bags."

"New or old (poo), we'll take it all."
